A Throwback Timeline For Cartoons

a throwback timeline for cartoons

90s kids be like your-childhood-won’t-be-complete-without-catching-up-cartoons-every-after-school. Watching Dexter, Johnny Bravo, Tweety, Hello Kitty, Winx Club, Barbie, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Taz, Sylvester, Popeye, Tom and Jerry are all that we need to make our day happy. Well, these are just few names of the characters that do the job. Actually, those that I mentioned were the cartoons created before I emerged from my mother’s womb. Meaning, the animated television series that were produced while I’m existing on Earth aren’t mentioned. Instead, they will be featured on the timeline that I made which starts from the year, 1997. Let’s have a throwback with them.

1997 – Teletubbies

Time for Teletubbies, Tinkywinky, Tinkywinky, Dipsy, Dipsy, Lala, Lala, Po, Po, Teletubbies, Teletubbies! I could still remember stammering their theme song when I was still a baby. My parents told me that every time I opened my eyes then and see these four, I smile widely which shows appreciation. How much more today that I’d grew up.

1998 – Powerpuff Girls

Thanks to Professor Utonium for making these three adorable superheroes, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup. Without him, we will miss a big part of our childhood. Oh I’m talking about their director, Craig McCracken. We, 90’s kids, are very thankful for creating the whole idea of this animated television series, Powerpuff Girls.

1999 – Spongebob Squarepants

Spongebob Squarepants is the best show on Nickelodeon. Perhaps, that explains why it’s still running on TV from 1999 until now. Wow! That means we witnessed each other grow. I witnessed the optimism of Spongebob, the friendliness of Patrick, the arrogance of Squidward, the money obsession of Mr. Krabs and others.

2000 – Dora the Explorer

Every weekends, I love spending my mornings watching Dora the Explorer when I was younger, answering Dora’s question and counting stuff with her. I even had a DVD collection of her adventures. I just don’t know where are they. I’m gonna find it later, be a child again and watch it. But this time, I’m not gonna answer her questions.

2001 – Justice League

Actually, I’m not a fan Justice League but I chose to include it in this timeline for the sake of Aquaman’s fans, Batman’s fans, the Flash’s fans, Green Lantern’s fans, the Martian Manhunter’s fans, Superman, and Wonder Woman’s fans. Even though I’m not into the show, I think, they’re really a great combination to be in a league.

2002 – The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius

This show is so good that it should have never ended. I mean, come on, a boy that is so smart that he can build weapons. Aside from that, the little boy’s very endearing with his hair stiffened up high. I heard that the said animated television series was dubbed in Tagalog. Oooh! I’m planning to watch those episodes.

2005 – Ben 10

Is this an action TV series or something? Maybe, that explains why I’ not a fan of Ben 10, also. But despite of that, I have some trivia to tell you. Did you know that this franchise has received wide critical acclaim, has won three Emmy Awards and has grossed over $4.5 billion in retail sales around the world?

2007 – Phineas and Ferb

No, no, it didn’t end! Oh, I’m gonna cry! No, I’m crying already. I love Phineas and Ferb and Candace and Perry the Platypus and Isabella but not Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Well, this just makes me inspired to use more often on my imaginations and believe that you can do anything. They’re really stupid yet funny and extremely creative.

2010 – Adventure Time

I’m getting busy since I started high school when this animated television series started. But hey, that isn’t a hindrance to watch kid shows such as Adventure Time. As much as possible, I won’t miss battles of Finn and his dog, Jake, even though he doesn’t look like a dog, in the Land of Ooo. Ooo! Ooo! I love speaking the word.

2012 – Gravity Falls

Mysteries, adventures, strangeness – what more could you ask for? This is so cool. If you want to watch a decent show, turn on Gravity Falls. It has intelligent yet flawed characters, a continuing plot line and plenty of action. I just love that Gravity Falls’ timeline actually progresses.
