flu-fighting shake

We are so addicted to shakes without knowing what its components can give us. All we do is when we feel hot, we cool with shakes. When we are tired, we refresh with shakes. When we crave, we satisfy ourselves with shakes. Now that my parents are experiencing a bit of life’s revenge, I became conscious on what I eat, including shakes, although I drink them. Sometimes, there are really undesirable constituents included on commercial shakes. Where does those powder come from? From then on, I prefer shakes that are freshly made and of course, with healthy benefits. And to ensure that it’s fresh, I am the one who will make! Okay! So for today’s recipe, we have flu-fighting shake! The ingredients are listed below. All you have to do is to toss those in a blender and punch the blend button. Wash and peel if necessary.

Lemon

Lemon alone could help you beat the flu. It is an excellent source of vitamin B6, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, folate, niacin thiamin, riboflavin, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, phosphorus and protein. Did I already mention vitamin C? When you have flu, you have to focus on that because that’s the exact thing that your immune system crave for when you’re sick. With that, lemon will boost your immune system and help you fight the flu harder. That’s why lemon is added to our flu-fighting shake!

Apple

As what the old proverb is telling us, an apple a day keeps the doctors away. What makes people say that? Well, apples contain nourishing elements like antioxidants, phytonutrients, flavanoids and dietary fiber which may help reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes and heart disease. I’m just glad that this miracle fruit is one of the most consumed fruits in the world which means more and more people are being healed. I hope this continues that’s why apple is added to our flu-fighting shake!

Orange

When you are suffering flu, it means that your immune system is weak. When that system is weak, it means that you need to intake foods with vitamin C on it. When you need vitamin C, it means that you have to give way to oranges! Just like lemon, oranges are extremely rich in Vitamin C. They are also a very good source of dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin B, calcium, copper, and potassium. That’s why orange is added to our flu-fighting shake!

Turmeric

Honestly, I’m aiming for a ginger because it’s a popular flu-fighting fruit. But turmeric powder is what I have here in my kitchen and I’m lazy going out. But there’s nothing to worry because turmeric has almost similar health benefits. After all, this bright yellow spice is considered as an anti-inflammatory agent to treat a wide variety of conditions by the Chinese and the Indians because of its main active ingredient called cucumin. That’s why turmeric is added to our flu-fighting shake!

Tea

We all know that the main reason why tea is invented and created every day is for curing health problems in our body since the people from the Asia, where it was originated, believed that it can boost the immune system, reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke, protect bones, help battle cancer and many more. Aside from that, I don’t know if it’s just me but it relaxes me whenever I drink tea. That’s why tea is added to our flu-fighting shake!
