“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.”
– Philippians 3:12-16 NIV
Focus is the point of concentration.
There are five ways to be focus:
1. Forget what is behind.
Philippians 3:13b says “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind…” We must forget former things that brought us pain. We must remind ourselves that past is past. Do not lean on the past in order for us to be focus.
2. Obey His commands.
To be able to focus, we must do whatever God wants us to do.
3. Comply to His will.
To comply simply means to submit. We must submit our dreams and decisions to God. Even our plans, we must submit it to Him.
Proverbs 16:3 says “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”
4. Understand His will.
We must know God’s purpose in our lives. We must believe that He has a great plan with us.
5. Strain toward what is ahead.
Philippians 4:13b says, “But one thing I do: … straining toward what is ahead.”
Conclusion: We must write our plan with a pencil and give God the eraser. This enables us to focus on what matters most.
Let me add some quotations from persons that had inspired me the most.
Pastor Dimson Dimaano, a pastor in Jesus is Lord Church Lipa City, once said “It is the journey and not the goal that molds a person. We must take every opportunities that come our way. We never know where it could take us.”
Pastor Erwell Reyes, a pastor of Jesus is Lord Church Italy, quoted, “Greater things are yet to come… Ang THE BEST ay maaaring dumating, kapag mayroon kang ginawa!”
Lastly, Brother Ivan Ramos, Kristiyanong Kabataan para sa Bayan Batangas City head, strongly said, “Hindi ko gagawin ang mga ito para sa sarili ko, gagawin ko ito para sa Lord.”
Be focus on the Lord and you’ll conquer the difficult world simply and awesomely!
