When a friend of mine came back from Japan, she introduced the Japanese unique way of self massage, which is called Shiatsu, which means finger pressure. Maybe, that’s the secret of Geisha in maintaining a wrinkle-free skin that’s why they, even the old ones, always look young and attractive. Aside from the physical appearance, it also helps them relax from their mind into the body that can result into a good health and fitness. This sounds helpful, not just interesting, right? And because of that, let’s do Shiatsu self massage now!
To have a mental clarity that can help you in making decisions, place both of your index fingers in their respective side beside your eyes. Press slightly and move them back and forth.
To relax and decrease or dissolve anxiety, gently knock the top of your head in a rhythmic pattern using both of your knuckles.
To relax your mind and ease your strained nerves that can prevent insomnia, the four steps are press thumb against bridge of nose, hold pressure, let go and repeat.
The next self massage is excellent for balancing mind and body clock that will work best when you are having a jet lag. Do this by rotating your fingers in the sides of your forehead.
When you have eye fatigue, freshen your mind by covering your face with your fingers rotating clockwise on your forehead.
Look up, left, down, right, then up, left, down, right again and again to stimulate brain activity. This eye exercise is excellent for focus.
To regulate metabolism and strengthen confidence, rub your index finger that faces the other side below your nose.
Place both of your hands with scattered fingers on top of your head. Massage it with gentle pressure while breathing deeply to ease tension, lighten your mind and relax your muscle.
For a good energy flow from head to feet, use both of your knuckles in pressing your back. Slide them up and down on your spine.
The last Shiatsu is done by putting your hands on the side of your waist with your thumbs at the back. Apply pressure and move them up and down. This strengthens the immune system and gives energy.
