Stay Awake Naturally!

stay awake naturally

One of the disobeyed policies in school is sleeping in class. You can’t blame us. We’re sleeping late at night to study, attending a 7:30 class in the morning and the professor is just reading his PowerPoint presentations and as boring as hell. We also encounter the same feeling in church and I’m always sorry to the priest in front and the Father in heaven every time I do. Another example is when we are in a long drive. But no matter how much we want to be awake, we just can’t take it. So here I am sharing some tips and activities to stay awake naturally, which means without caffeine.

Yogic Breathing Technique

Yogic Breathing Technique

If there’s a breathing exercise that will make you fall asleep as what mentioned on my blog post, How To Fall Asleep Immediately, there is also one for the opposite purpose which is called yogic breathing technique. Breathe in and out through your nose and pull in your abdomen towards your diaphragm with every inhale and exhale.

Cold Water

Cold Water

A minute in the comfort room won’t distract your professor, right? When you feel sleepy, why don’t you go there and have a splash of cold water. We all know that cold water alerts the blood inside us so this is a good take. Of course, it would be better if you take a bath with cold water in the morning but hey, I can’t do that!

Pressing Nose

Pressing Nose

I remembered when my classmates and I caught our teacher picking his nose on a photo. Years after, he shared one tip to reduce the sleepiness we’re feeling which is by pushing the bridge of the nose between nostrils. We found out that he wasn’t really picking his nose on the photo. We’re sorry! And thanks for the tip!

Pulling Earlobes

Pulling Earlobes

Aside from pushing the bridge of the nose, there’s another acupressure and didn’t know that they are called as such. Anyways, pulling down your earlobes can also keep your eyelids from sliding down. So if you feel like pushing nose will make you look weird, try this instead. I tried it once and it is effective though my earring slipped off.

Doodling

Doodling

Do I have to include this considering that most students already knew this and even did this? Well, I’m here to ask what you are drawing. Do you know that what you draw has something to tell to your personality? That’s what I write on my blog post, Draw Who You Are. By the way, it won’t just grab your attention but also, it’ll enhance your creativity.
