“LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellow man, who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts, who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken. “
– Psalms 15:1-5 NIV
A church dweller is the one who attends and participates in the celebration of Sabbath Day or simply Lord’s Day or most specifically, Sunday. The Bible gives us ten must-possessed characteristics of it, as discuss below.
“…He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous,…” (v. 2)
A church dweller must be blameless and righteous. To be blameless is to do good always no matter what and to be righteous means to act in accordance with what is just or moral.
“…who speaks the truth from his heart…” (v. 2)
A church dweller must be honest. To be honest is to free yourselves from deceptions and to speak the truth from the heart.
3. Not a Gossip
“…and has no slander on his tongue,…” (v. 3)
A church dweller must not be a gossip. A gossip is a person who reveals rumor and bad reports against another person.
“…who does his neighbor no wrong…” (v. 3)
A church dweller must be kind. He must do good always.
“…and casts no slur on his fellow man,…” (v. 3)
A church dweller must humble down himself before God and others. He must not be proud or haughty of himself.
6. Good in Rebuking
“…who despises a vile man…” (v. 4)
A church dweller must be good in rebuking. He rebukes the works of evil towards another person. He reprimands the evil sharply.
“but honors those who fear the LORD,…” (v. 4)
A church dweller must be fearless. The only one whom he fears is God. He must honor those people who fear the Lord.
8. Promise Doer
“…who keeps his oath even when it hurts,…” (v. 4)
A church dweller does his promises no matter how hard it takes.
“…who lends his money without usury…” (v. 5)
A church dweller must be generous. He must give or share his blessings to others without limit nor without interest.
10. Good Steward
“…and does not accept a bribe against the innocent.” (v. 5)
A church dweller must be a good steward. He manages his company without hesitation. He does not do discriminations.
As a conclusion, the Bible further explains that:
“He who does these things will never be shaken.” (v. 5)
