Tonkatsu By Terazawa

Tonkatsu by terazawa

Shopping in Divisoria is really tiring and making us hungry so as a reward in finishing the list of things we should buy, we should choose a restaurant that will make our stomach charged again. Our search ended up in front of Tonkatsu by Terazawa in Lucky Chinatown Mall. It’s been a long time since we haven’t eat Japanese foods specifically, Tonkatsu so yeah. Lucky that I have my The Bistro Group Premiere card with me so we can order foods that are not just for two persons with a discount – we can take some out! Aside from it’s Japanese-inspired ambiance, we love the restaurant because Tonkatsu is among the restaurant group I trust, The Bistro Group. I always have a great experience on their places.

Tonkatsu by Terazawa offers a wide array of menu choices from starters, tonkatsu, kurobuta rosu katsu, iroiro katsu, kakifurai, miso katsu, okonomi katsu, chisu katsu, iberico katsu and beverages. But before we proceed to the mouthwatering food we ordered, I require you, yes I, to follow the traditional way of eating Tonkatsu to enjoy your food. They say

  1. Sprinkle salt on the sauce bowl. Salt has a fascinating way of bringing out the flavor of the meat
  2. If you want more zest or spice, pour your desired amount of our special Tonkatsu sauce into the sauce bowl. To enhance the aroma, grind sesame seeds into your sauce or directly on the meat, rice and cabbage.
  3. Dip the meat in the sauce.
  4. Enjoy with unlimited service of Japanese rice, shredded cabbage and a hot bowl of tonjiro, our very own pork-flavored miso soup.

Rosu Katsu Set

Rosu Katsu Sets

Of course, our Tonkatsu experience won’t be complete without ordering their specialty, tonkatsu so we decided to have this set called Rosu Katsu, which is actually a deep fried pork loin with refillable shredded cabbage, sliced cucumber and corn, rice and tonjiro misu soup. Although lacking on tenderness, the pork wasn’t tough to chew and interestingly, the taste was able to seep into the meat fibers, bringing you tasteful bites. I don’t like the soup since I don’t that kind but I know, you’ll gonna love it.

Pork Karaage

Pork Karaage

By the time I went there, I don’t know what karaage is. However, nothing will lose if I order it since it looks good. And when it finally arrived to our table and landed our mouth, it also tastes good. At the end of the day, I discovered that karaage is marinated in a mix of soy sauce, garlic and ginger, then lightly coated with a seasoned wheat flour or potato starch mix and deep fried in oil. I’m surprised that the food we got wasn’t oily.

Deep Fried Oyster

Deep Fried Oyster

As a matter of fact, what we should really order was deep fried prawns but since we already memorize the taste of tempura, we tried deep fried oyster instead. We’re glad that we changed our mind because now, we have something to add in our favorite foods list. What I absolutely admire about this was it is cooked perfectly with crunchy coating and raw oyster together with its sauce. And as you can see, Tonkatsu was totally rich with shredded cabbage. It’s unlimited!

Caesar Salad

Ceasar Salad

Among Tonkatsu’s starters is the Caesar Salad, a serving of lettuce with tomatoes, croutons and corn. Their Caesar Salad is great for those who are watching their calorie intakes. Take my mother as an example. This was her order. But as a muncher who wants to taste everything on the table, I can say that it’s the salad that beats most of the Caesar Salad I have tried. Not only its freshness was enjoyable, it’s flavor was equally delightful as well.

Chasoba Salad

Chasoba Salad

We absolutely love Tonkatsu Salads that made us order two among their salad section. Chasoba Salad was aesthetically pleasing in the eyes and the palate especially with that green tea-flavored noodle. I am not into green foods but I love this one. Together with lettuce, scrambled egg, thin strips of ham, tomatoes and seaweed, the noodle makes the flavorful treat. This dish I must say is not to be missed.
