You’d Still Rather Be At Gerry’s

Gerry's Grill

Gerry’s Restaurant and Bar – a restaurant where Filipinos should be proud of. Why? Well, it’s simply because it showcases Filipino foods not just in the Philippines, but also worldwide. I never thought that Gerry’s would have gone beyond its expected target market. Imagine, it come up to more than 60 branches including US, Singapore and Qatar! Wow, just wow.

But I don’t have a question on it. There’s no doubt that they will succeed because of the good menu that they offer. It is packed with scrumptious food ranging from Grilled Seafood, Filipino and Asian favorites and tastefully prepared beermates and Pica-Pica. Gerry’s Restaurant and Bar gives you the perfect place with the perfect menu to fit any occasion at a reasonable budget.

chichabits

One of my problems with chicharon is the difficulty in eating due to its complicated shape and size. It’s a good thing that Gerry’s Grill had come to an idea of having chichabits instead. Some rinds still have meat making it yummier. It is a bit oily but who cares about that. With the right amount of saltiness and crispiness, it is perfect as an appetizer, bar chow or snack.

Gerry’s Grill is a favorite hangout spot for drinking sessions not only because of the chill ambiance, but also because of great bar chows. I can see the reason why customers choose Sizzling Sisig as companion for their beers. It’s flavorful in every bite that even we, non-drinkers, can enjoy it as viand for rice. I just hated the hard bits, which can be felt in every spoonful.

Inihaw na Baby Pusit

Inihaw na Baby Pusit

It’s clear why their squid dishes are among their list of bestsellers. No one can deny the lusciousness of Gerry’s Grill’s Inihaw na Baby Pusit. It may have a messy presentation but it’s the taste that matters. The sweetness of the marinade blends well with the smoky meat. I also got the chance to try their Inihaw na Pusit which is also tender and juicy. This one even has juices dripping from it.

Chicken Kebab

chicken kebab

Gerry’s Grill’s dish of Chicken Kebab may consist only of three sticks but as you can see, each stick is full-packed with pure meat so it’s just enough for me and my companions. I can taste its natural juices and at the same time, can feel the smoky flavors brought by grilling the chicken. The grilled vegetables skewered between the meat also add to the excitement.

Lechong Kawali

Lechong Kawali

No matter how it is presented, Lechon Kawali will always be mouthwatering to look at. One of our group even can’t wait to have a pinch of the meat before I take a photo. This explains the broken portion of the pork belly. Tastewise, I must say that it’s really seasoned well. I like that the saltiness is dominant. The fats are unavoidable but surprisingly, Gerry’s Grill’s Lechon Kawali has more meat than fats. Plus, they are edible because the fats are as tasty as the meat.

Tahong Ala Pobre

Tahong Ala Pobre

Another bar chow in the house! Another must-order in Gerry’s Grill is this Tahong Ala Pobre. The mussels alone are full of flavors already but I would like to see more sauce in the dish since it is Tahong Ala Pobre. It seems that the shellfishes already sucked the sauce from too much cooking. But the flavors were just right. It has a hint of spiciness and sweetness and it is overloaded with garlic.

Lumpiang Shanghai

Of course, a feast won’t be complete without this Filipino favorite dish – Lumpiang Shanghai! The pieces were small but they were like Jollibee’s, which are thick and loaded with meaty meat. And there are a number of them, too! They are fried to crispiness with minimal excess oil. You’ll definitely want to dip it with its accompanying sweet and spicy sauce.

Ginataang Halo Halo

ginataang halo halo

Shocks! This dessert is full of violet, opposing to my belief that it shouldn’t be. This causes me to give it a thumbs down for the food presentation. The coconut milk, on the other hand, is surprisingly not sweet, which is good. However, I would say that my mother’s halo halo with coconut milk is better than this so for the taste, if ever there is a thumbs middle, then I’ll give it that.

Better check their menu for their more specialties.
