Sausage Sandwich

Sausage Pizza Smørrebrød is another cheese dish from my mom’s epic cheese haul from her trip to the Netherlands.

She came home with all sorts of cheeses from young and aged Gouda, soft-ripened cheese like Brie or Camembert, smoked cheese, spreads to a beautiful goat cheese coated in lavender. With so many choices, I’ve been having fun creating dishes that highlight them one by one.

This one kind of reminds me of the Pepperoni Pizza Toast we had before, but it’s also completely different. That version was toasted altogether with bread, sauce, toppings, and cheese melted to perfection. But this is a smørrebrød. It’s the fresh kind. There’s no melting. This is just ust good ingredients thoughtfully layered on top of crusty bread. It’s simple, satisfying, and lets the cheese and sausage shine in their natural state.

1. Gather all the ingredients needed.

  • Bread Slice
  • Sausage 
  • Tomato Sauce
  • Bell Pepper
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Oil

2. Prepare ingredients by slicing the sausage and mozzarella cheese into thin strips and mincing the bell pepper.

3. Cook the longganisa.

4. Spread some tomato sauce on the bread.

5. Toast the bread.

6. Arrange the mozzarella cheese and sausage alternately.

7. Sprinkle with minced bell pepper.

8. Your Sausage Pizza Smørrebrød is now done and ready to be served.
