How I Make Filipino Coconut Salad

Just like last week’s Noche Buena, I made sure to have my own contribution every Media Noche or New Year’s Eve feast. But it was my first time to run out of ideas. I created Aglio Olio at the last minute and I prepared a simple Buko Salad or the Filipino Coconut Salad. I didn’t opt to make something complicated that time. Let’s just keep everything simple.

Buko Salad may be easy and ubiquitous at Filipino parties, but it is loved by everyone, alongside Buko Pandan and Fruit Salad. It is made from strips of fresh young coconut with sweetened milk, cream and various other ingredients.

1. Prepare all the ingredients needed.

  • 1 kilo coconut meat strips
  • 400 grams fruit cocktail
  • 500ml cream
  • 370 grams condensed milk

2. Combine the drained fruit cocktail and coconut strips.

3. Add the milk and cream.

4. Mix them altogether.

5. Chill and serve. Your Buko Salad is now done.
