How I Make Peruvian Fries Burger

One thing I really looked forward to during our Fukuoka trip was doing a konbini haul. It has always been our routine to stop by Japanese convenience stores, whether it’s 7-Eleven, Lawson, or Family Mart, to discover unique finds before heading back to our hotel each day. This time, I was inspired by konbini hacks and DIY recipes I found on TikTok, so I challenged myself to create a dish using only items from these stores.

Other konbini creations I made:

So for today’s recipe, I made a Cuban Frita Burger. Well, this is a very loose version of it. The real thing is a Cuban street food burger made with spiced ground meat and topped with crispy potatoes. Mine? I grabbed a cheeseburger from Lawson and some butter and soy sauce potato chips from 7-Eleven, and just rolled with it. It’s definitely not authentic, but hey, it was fun and surprisingly tasty!

1. Prepare all the ingredients needed.

  • Shoestring Fries
  • Burger Bun
  • Patty
  • Cheese
  • Ketchup

Since the burger I bought at Lawson already has bun, patty, cheese and ketchup, I only bought two items.

2. Cook the patty. In my case, I followed the instructions of heating this konbini cheeseburger.

3. You can buy shoestring potatoes or fry them yourself. My target was Pik-Nik but surprised to see none of it in Japan convenience stores.

4. Assemble the burger by filling buns with patty, cheese and ketchup.

5. Don’t forget the shoestring potatoes on top!

6. Your Frita Burger is now done and ready to be served.
