Deja Blend: The Most Perfect Blend

After Breen, there seemed to be another milk tea shop that popped up in Pinamalayan. With operations beginning at the summer of 2019, Deja Blend is one of the pioneering milk tea shops in the said town. Just like ours, it’s a franchise shop that originated locally. But with 32 branches nationwide, thay have wider coverage. I’m actually amazed they have celebrities like Tony Labrusca as endorsers.

Deja Blend isn’t just a milk tea shop. Aside from milk teas, the shop also offer pearl shakes, frappes and lemonades. Of course, as a foodie, I tried them all!

Java Loco Frappe

It’s called java and it’s under their frappe section so I was expecting some caffeine kick here. But my palate didn’t get any flavors of coffee at all. I can taste pure chocolate, which is just a common chocolate. It’s a bland chocolate. Maybe, it lacks sweetness because the ice was too much. Speaking of ice, I’m amazed that the ice were crushed finely. However, the java chips were also fine that I couldn’t feel them.

Merry Blueberry Frappe

So I realized that all of their frappes are cream-based. My bad! Anyway, the Merry Blueberry successfully got the flavors of blueberry, unlike Brew Authoritea’s Blueberry Cheesecake Cream Cake, which is more appealing in eyes but less flavorful. I like that it isn’t too tangy. The berry was balanced well by the dairy they used. And just like most of the frappes I tried in Deja Blend, the crushed ice were so fine that I can not feel them anymore.

Wintermelon Milk Tea

At first sip, I was able to recognize the tea and the milk, which is good. But the wintermelon flavor was missing. It’s like a classic milk tea, which is literally composed of only milk and tea. It was great if I ordered a Classic Milk Tea. But for a Wintermelon, it’s kinda meh. The pearls are incredible though. They are soft and chewy as how we wanted it to be. They’re also generous when it comes to pearls.

Roasted Okinawa Milk Tea

In fairness, after two years of not being able to visit Deja Blend, the pearls remained consistent in softness and chewiness. The Roasted Okinawa Milk Tea is also delicious although I wasn’t able to distinguish the roast essence of Okinawa. The flavor of Okinawa was strong but luscious. It’s creamy but not too sweet. I don’t know but the taste has resemblance to Majestea’s Okinawa Milk Tea.

Coco Pandan Pearl Shake

I can’t hide the disappointment on my face when I tasted this. I can’t explain the flavors. Yes, it has the fusion of coconut and pandan flavors but it doesn’t taste natural. Is this a product of Injoy? If yes, why would they choose this brand out of all powder suppliers? I’m sorry but I’m not a fan of Injoy because of their artificial flavoring. Moreover, the ice was coarse unlike in their frappes.

Creme Brulee Pearl Shake

I ordered the two pearl shakes, Creme Brulee and Coco Pandan, at the same time and I must say this is better. It has the caramelization and sweetness of a Creme Brulee. But still, the taste doesn’t seem natural. The ice isn’t finely crushed, too. I waited for a few minutes for it to melt and it’s a good thing that the pearl she didn’t become bland when the the ice watered down. Pearls were good though.

Mint Lemonoids

Visually, it’s attractive, especially with the lemon inside the cup. But if it’s the lemon than they squeezed using their bare hands, I wouldn’t want this drink anymore. I thought I should include this comment because I saw the staff making and handling the lemonade unsanitarily. But it was good that they’re using natural ingredients for this. Tastewise, there’s no doubt that it’s delish. The addition of mint was great. I was just feeling a little scar in the throat after finishing the cup.

Activated Charcoal Lemonoids

I was totally curious about this Activated Charcoal Lemonoids so I gave it a try. I was expecting something burnt or something smoky. However, I found out that they just added it to make the drink black and unique. There’s actually no flavor added. I could still feel the charcoal powder. But I like this better than the Mint Lemonoids because this tastes more natural. I also recommend to add nata instead of pearls, like what I mistakenly requested.
