Lil’ Orbits: Always Hot! Always Fresh!

Lil’ Orbits is now in Mindoro! I got so excited when I saw the signage of Lil’ Orbits in the entrance of Xentro Mall Calapan. I only got to taste this in Metro Manila and Batangas before and it’s one of the things I miss now that I’m staying in our province. But hey! From Minneapolis, It got its way here.

The mini donuts of Lil’ Orbits aren’t difficult to love. As I watch how these bites were deep-fried, I’m amazed at how fast they cook these perfectly soft and creamy end product. As of the writing, I tried six different flavors from different branches and surprisingly, the donuts have consistent flavors. It isn’t hard to understant why many people are addicted to Lil’ Orbits. Since they only have one product that only varies in flavors and you already know how I think about the donuts itself, I’m gonna talk about how the flavors complement with these donuts.

At first, I was like “What? Cheese?” That’s a weird flavor for a donut but with Lil’ Orbits, it worked. The cheese wasn’t loathing at all since the amount of powder was just right. Plus, I noticed that it is mixed with sugar to give it a sweet balance. Some may say that they cheat their powder because it’s not pure cheese but I think it’s their way to complement with sweetness and creaminess  of the donut.

Compared to cheese, I noticed that the rest of the flavors have coarser powders. But like cheese, the cinnamon is also mixed with sugar. But the sweetness overshadowed the cinnamon flavor making the spice kinda unrecognizable. I was able to consume this 30 minutes after buying and surprisngly, even though the warmth was gone, the donuts remained soft and delish. I’m also glad that despite of cooking them oil, they weren’t oily at all.

Upon opening the pack, I already got the aroma of a coffee. It’s so good! It reminds me of the Filipino-style of dipping buns in coffee during breakfast. Now, we have it through Lil’ Orbits’ mocha donuts. I also tried the chocolate and it’s less tasty compared to mocha making me like the mocha more. I noticed that they used a mild flavor for their chocolate. I had this in their Lipa branch and I love that they put generous amount of powder to the donuts.

One can easily taste the berry flavors in the sugar coating of these mini donuts and they’re irresistibly yummy. Although the powder has more sugar than those pink bits, I’m happy the flavors of strawberry is still dominating. I’m in awe. Honestly, I’m not a fan of strawberries. But this is my favorite Lil’ Orbits flavor so far. And I know my boyfriend liked it, too. He poured remaining powders from the pack in his mouth. 

Cookies and Cream

When we say cookies and cream donuts, we usually think of milky cream with Oreo bits on top. But it wasn’t the case with Lil’ Orbits because all of their donuts have powdered flavoring. And I think that this is a smart way to reduce the sweetness. I personally prefer the powder type than the creamy type. I just wish it has more cookie bits because they define the cookies and cream flavor.
