Oriental Milk Tea: Bubbling #TaiwanTasteMilkTea

When in Manila, you’ll see me holding a milk tea cup, if not an iced coffee cup, every single day. It’s a habit of mine to try different flavors of milk teas from different milk tea giants. Sometimes, I stick to my favorites like Macao Imperial Tea’s Cream Cheese Oreo Milk Tea, Chatime’s Pearl Milk Tea and and The Alley’s Royal No. 9 Milk Tea. I go to Manila so often so I make sure to spoil myself with the drinks I want.

In Mindoro, it’s the other way around. It seems that I already memorized how each flavors of milk teas here taste like. But I’ve got a few other milk tea shops in Mindoro that I trust and one of them is Oriental Milk Tea.

Here are five drinks from Oriental Milk Tea that I already tried.

Red Velvet Cheesecake

As we all know, red velvet is a tweaked variation of cocoa and this milk tea really got its mild chocolate flavor. There’s no denying that they did a job well done on this milk tea. The cheesecake walling is great but I think, they should add more cream cheese to the mixture because the red velvet is too dominating. But as I said, it’s good but it would be better if there will be a proper balance between the ingredients.

Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea

I tried drinking the milk tea base and the syrup separately at first and the milk tea is pure blandness. There’s no tea. There’s no creaminess. It almost feels like I’m drinking water. I took a sip of the bottom part since the brown sugar syrup were settled there and I could feel my blood sugar rising. I know I should shake the milk tea well before drinking but it should at least give us the flavors of milk and tea because that’s what it is called for.

Wintermelon RSC

This drink is a delight as it is. The wintermelon flavoring that they are using is totally yummy. However, if you would think about it, I ordered a milk tea and it is lacking in tea. It’s like a wintermelon milk because it’s really milky. In addition, rock salt and cheese should balance the sweetness with its sodium element. But it just makes the drink even sweeter than giving a salty touch.

Blueberry Fruit Tea

Well, there’s nothing wrong with this fruit tea. The blueberry flavor is there. The green tea is recognizable. It isn’t bland and it has the right sweetness. But there’s something missing. I guess it is the wow factor. Oriental Milk Tea could add something to this fruit tea that will make it distinct compared to others. For the customers, I recommend adding nata de coco to ease the dullness.

Melon Milk

I find their Kpop Coolers a great idea as it hit the niche because there are still no other milk tea shops in Mindoro that offer Melona flavors. This green one successfully got the taste of Melona’s Melon. However, there is an intensity in the flavoring that kinda stings the throat. But I’m still enjoying it because it’s undeniably delish just like the ice cream bar. I just think that tapioca pearl isn’t the compatible for this.
