How To Make Powdered Milk Candy

I suddenly craved for polvoron today.

Then, the good times when we were still making and selling polvoron, along with yema and pastillas, in our school’s canteen, flashes back in my mind. It was a great idea. My boyfriend and I were still in college back then and it became one of our ways to generate income.

Polvoron is a popular candy in the Philippines, which are commonly bought as pasalubong. We mistook it as a Filipino delicacy, but actually, the original polvoron can be seen in Spain as a shortbread. The Filipino version uses a large amount of powdered milk so it is more crumbly. This is what we are going to make today.

1. Prepare all the ingredients needed.

2. In a pan, toast flour over low heat. Stir continuously.

3. When the flour turned light brown in color, add the powdered milk.

4. Pour sugar into the pan and mix the powders well.

5. Melt the butter.

6. Pour melted butter into the pan and mix.

7. Remove from heat. Make oval polvorons using polvoron molder. Make sure the powder is compact so it will stick together.

8. Arrange candies on a tray and let it cool in the fridge.

9. Your Polvoron is now done and ready to be served.
