Unforgettable Lines From Pinoy Movies
They say that we, Filipinos, are really fond of watching movies. We are easily attracted to its memorable scenes, timeless actors and actresses and witty lines. And through this hobby, aside from the hugot lines from Pinoy movies that catches our heart, we can also be stunned to the lines of the characters that is perfectly uttered in the movies. To add on that, the effective trailers make the viewers have LLS on it. Yes, LLS! If we have the LSS, we also got LLS which means Last Lines Syndrome. Listed from oldest to newest, here’s my top eight unforgettable lines from Pinoy Movies.
“Walang himala! Ang himala ay nasa puso ng tao!” – Nora Aunor, Himala
If we hear the name Nora Aunor, the first line that comes into our mind is this one from one of the most reminisced Filipino films in history. Others even imitate the way she said it, like the accent and the action.
“You’re nothing but a second-rate, trying hard copycat!” – Cherie Gil, Bituing Walang Ningning
Even if its a 1985 movie, this line still don’t rust. I love the way how Cherie Gil executed it strongly, arrogantIy and with sophistication that caused it to be popular. I bet you know what happened next when Cherie Gil said this to Sharon Cuneta.
“Si Val! Si Val! Puro na lang si Val! Si Val na walang malay!” – Vilma Santos, Saan Nagtatago ang Pag-ibig?
Honestly, I don’t know this film. I guess, it’s because I’m not yet born on the time that it is first shown. But woah! I know the line. And I admit that I already stated this line at least twice in my life. I know, you can also relate to me.
“Akala mo lang wala, pero meron! Meron! Meron!” – Carlo Aquino, Bata, Bata, Paano ka Ginawa
This heavily delivered line by Carlo Aquino is one of the most parodied lines in Philippine cinema. Even the kids today know this line! And it’s not just the line itself that made it famous, but also the scene that includes the famous slap of Vilma Santos to the actor.
“Kasi ang totoo, umaasa pa rin akong sabihin mo: Sana ako pa rin. Ako na lang. Ako na lang ulit.” – Bea Alonzo, One More Chance
The Hugot Movie of all time will definitely have an entry in this list. Actually, this is just one of the innumerable lines in the said film. One More Chance probably made everyone cry because almost all of the couples can relate to its story and to the lines.
“I care about my job, sir. And I care about you!” – Sharon Cuneta, Caregiver
Who wouldn’t know this line from this 2008 film of the OFW role of Sharon Cuneta? The movie just give a great impact to its audience, especially to the Filipinos who work abroad. But on the whole movie, this dramatic line struck us the most.
“Ang pera naten hindi basta basta mauubos, pero ang pasensya ko, konting konti na lang!” – Angelica Panganiban, One More Try
Lines from Filipino films are truly remarkable. Just like this line from the bida kontrabida herself, Angelica Panganiban. You know this line, right? It is not just imitated by the people in this generation, but also, it is used as meme and dubsmash.
“I deserve an explanation. I deserve an acceptable reason!” – Piolo Pascual, Starting Over Again
Following the January release of the trailer, this line became one of the most reenacted and impersonated by people from all walks of life. And duh, when the one claiming an explanation and acceptable reason is Papa P, how can you not give it?
Astig na mga linya! 🙂
