Life Hacks For Club Goers

It’s the 188th day of quarantine period in our region and if there’s one activity we truly miss, it is partying, bar hopping and night clubbing!

Before, every Thursday night, my university friends would go to nearby bars to celebrate the end of the school week. This form of socialization has been part of DLSU’s subculture. We, Lasallians, even call it Happy T or Happy Thursday as most of the students don’t have on the following day.

It’s sad that in the present days, after our Zoom classes and meetings, we’re stuck at home and we’re only able to update our friends about our life through social media. How boring this is!

But while we are for bars to open once again, keep this list of life hacks for club goers. For the meantime, in this blog, let’s just wander the clubs through TikTok.

1. When you’re at a bar, look down at the floor. Drunk people tend to drop their money. Just make sure that you’re not the one losing the money. Finders keepers, losers weepers!

2. If you drink one glass of water with every alcoholic beverage, you can be drunk without a hangover. This will significantly help to counteract the dehydration effect the alcohol has.

3. Want a free drink? Tell people you’re not drinking. Everyone will suddenly offer you a free drink. Just do this in a crown who doesn’t know your drinking capability and act like as if you are forced to do so.

4. If you want someone’s number, take a picture with them and ask them to send it to you. But as a girl, I suggest to do this when you and that person are already comfortable to each. Respect must still be present.

5. If you are drunk and have the urge to puke, taking short rapid breaths can help it go away. But once you get home, do not stop yourself from vomiting as this can help you release the alcohol in the body immediately.

7. Always hold your drink in your left hand. In that way, your right hand won’t be called or wet when you shake hands. Fortunately, it isn’t a problem for us left-handed peeps.

8. Take a multivitamin before drinking to prevent a hangover. This is also the advice of hangover specialist Dr. Jason Burke. He said that “preventing them is much easier than dealing with them the next day.”

9. Reduce beer foam by adding a small amount of olive. I know you won’t bring a bottle of olive oil into the bar but if the bar is also a restaurant, perhaps, they can offer olive oil.

11. Place a coaster over your glass at a bar to avoid losing your drink. It’s the universal code for “I’m coming back.” This way, you can step away and come back to finish your drink.

12. Always bring your ID! Entering the bar can be a hassle especially for those who have baby faces. Luckily, it isn’t a problem for me since I do not look like a kid. Even when I was still under 18 years of age, I can easily enter bars.

13. Are you a broke party gal? You can minimize the drinks you order at the bar by  starting your session at home. Have some pre-drinks. After that, you won’t feel the need to spend all your money just to get your buzz going.

14. While the other hacks listed here are for fun, this one is something serious. Do not leave your drinks unattended. There are cases where clubbers were drugged. We don’t know what may happen next. We should be careful with the drinks we consume in the club.

15 For parties at home, you can use frozen fruits or frozen berries to chill wine without diluting it. You can also freeze fruit juices for this use. Instead of watery, it’ll make the wine fruity.
