Best Of Regent

Regent has become part of our childhood. I remember having their baked goods as my companion during school recess. During dismissal, my classmates and I used to buy their crunchies from the nearest sundry shop and eat them while waiting for our fetchers. Every weekend, our playtime won’t be complete without Regent candies and biscuits. As we grew up, our taste preferences has changed. We may not experience school recess, school dismissal and playtime anymore but we, grown-ups, still enjoy Regent products the same way we enjoyed them during those times.

Regent Foods Corporation is among the country’s top snack food manufacturers. They became well-known for making the products I’ll be featuring in this blog.

When we were young, we pretend to be brides and wear these as rings. Admit it. You have done this, too. I know it’s quite shameful to review a product that has been there through my youth. But I have to say that no matter how old I am, I will never get tired of this snack. The cheese coating has this unique yummy taste that I can’t explain. It’s cheesy and sweet at the same time.

Again, when I was younger, I thought of Snacku as a healthy alternative for fries because it looks like string beans turned into crackers. I didn’t know that it was a rice cracker sprinkled with vegetable powder at that time. So I enjoyed every bite of it even more. Now that I am aware of its true composition and we consider it as a junk food, I still feel that I’m this innocent child enjoying the snack.

Golden Sweet Corn

I can’t help but compare Regent’s Golden Sweet Corn with Regal’s Sweet Corn. That of Regal has slightly tastier and sweeter corn flavor but that of Regent has bigger balls that are consistently round in shape. Regent also has a generous amount that will leave you satisfied after eating a pack. I will always choose these golden balls over sweet corn chips that are popping in the market today.

Tempura

Regent Tempura was introduced to me when I was in high school. I immediately fell in love with this snack by that time maybe because I’m a seafood lover. I could absolutely feel the shrimp flavor in it. But after years of eating Tempura, I realized that it wasn’t just the flavor that delights me. The crunchiness of the crackers also gives me satisfaction. The same goes with Regent’s Labzter and Sashimi.

Twist N’ Shout

The playful form of Regent’s Twist N’ Shout was the first thing I noticed about this milky snack. It seems that children will enjoy every piece. However, it’s something that we would forget unlike Cheese Ring, Snacku and Golden Sweet Corn that has been there before us and will surely be there for our children. That explains why it only appeared in stores for a short period of time.

Mochi

It takes time and effort to prepare the Japanese dessert Mochi. That’s why Regent is giving us a convenient way to enjoy this Asian-inspired snack. The smoothness is felt in every corner of my mouth. But taste-wise, it’s dull. If not because of the fillings, their Mochi will be tasteless. I even thought that the differing colors signify a pack of assorted flavors not knowing that it was simply a pack of assorted colors.

Fiesta Cakes

This thing in here is my favorite school snack during my elementary days and my favorite Regent product as well. Honestly, I’m not a fan of sponge cakes but the fluffiness of Regent’s Fiesta doesn’t stop me from wanting it. I love the golden brown outer layer of the cake which, once bitten, reveal its true essence. Everything is just on point. It shouts freshness. It is moist and is rich in flavor. I wish Regent offers more baked goods.

Belgian Waffle

My friends know how I love Belgian waffle and how I badly want to have them available in groceries. I think Regent heard my request as they placed their version of Belgian waffle into the market. At first, I was happy because a food company got the idea of making waffles. But I was disappointed when I tried it. I don’t expect it to be as soft as the freshly baked ones but I at least hoped that it wasn’t dry as this.

Floss Pork Bread

When my eyes first landed on Regent’s Floss Pork Bread, I already imagined a bread full of pork floss so I got totally excited. I bought it only to find out that it’s a bun filled with jam I can’t identify and covered with thin layer of floss which is eventually wrapped with pastry strands. Despite of the wrong assumption, I must say that this one is undeniably delicious. It left me asking for more.

Ube Roll

Oh! Another major throwback! We used to buy this kind of snack that comes in two flavors – ube and cheese. Sadly, I haven’t seen it for a while now probably because it’s phased out. It’s a good thing that Regent produced a very similar ube roll that reminds me of its appearance and taste. Just like the original product, it has a good balance of sweetness and saltiness.
