Hightown Cafe: Brewed And Baked With Love

Hightown Cafe isn’t your typical aesthetic cafe that displays vibrant interiors and elegant designs. It’s a yard of a house, like any other, with tables and chairs set up and decorated fairy lights. If you think of it, it’s just ordinary. But there’s something in Hightown Cafe that makes us wanna spend our afternoons in this place.

Hightown Cafe is located in an uphill part of Pola. It has the panoramic view of the coastal small town, Tablas Strait and the beautiful blue sky. Guests can watch the sun rise during the morning. At night, dim instagrammable lights will keep you attracted. It’s simply a place to chill. Basically, Hightown Cafe provides the best companion of coffee – the scene and the ambiance.

Aside from coffee, Hightown Cafe offer all-day breakfast and pastries. Here are some of the food we tried so far.

Chocolate Cookies | Vanilla Iced Coffee

Cookies are described as palm-sized but these seem like normal rounds of cookie. They can flatten it more to reach the size of a palm since they’re fat. This will make it crispier, too. But it’s delicious and addicting. Its flavor and texture hit my preference on cookies. Its sweetness pairs well with their Vanilla Iced Coffee. The java in this cup was just mild since it is more on milk and vanilla. I also tried their plain Iced Coffee and Choco Caramel and they have the same ratio of coffee to milk.

Pork Tapa Silog Meal | Cold Brew

Knowing how meticulous I am when it comes to food, I already expected myself to complain about the little serving of pork and how this silog meal plainly looks like the one we cook at home. But surprisingly, I just enjoyed eating. In fact, I find it delish. The garlic fried rice, the crusty sunny-side up egg and savory tapa feels nostalgic to me. I appreciate that they didn’t add anymore syrup to the Cold Brew so I was able to focus on the flavors of the java itself.

Cheesedog Silog Meal | Hot Choco

It’s a good decision to order an extra egg for this because they only serve one piece of hotdog for this meal. The hot dog was good but it could be better. I hope they chose juicier hot dog brand for this like Purefood’s Tender Juicy Cheesedog or Frabelle Bossing Cheesedog as these sausages are proven to have oozing cheese inside. The hot choco gained different reviews from us. My mom said it was bland so she added sugar. For me, I enjoy the richness of chocolate even without any sweetener added.

Brownies | HTC Citrus Tea

Hands down to whoever their baker is! They didn’t disappoint us with their pastries. Although simple, the brownies have layers of crispiness, gooeyness and chewiness from top to bottom. As always, it has right sweetness. If I didn’t order for rice meal, I can definitely finish a tub in one sitting. For my drink, the citrus tea surprised my palate with the essence of ginger. I hate ginger to be honest but I did enjoy drinking this tea fusion. It’s like a modern salabat.

Banana Bread | Milo Dino

Even though I don’t like raisin, I truly appreciate their Banana Bread. I like how moist each slice is. Although they’re small, the cuts were thick. It’s just a classic banana bread but I can’t deny that it’s yummy. The Milo Dino could have been sweeter. Aside from the milo itself, they could also play with sugar and creamer for that ultimate Milo Dino drink. As always, the malt powder on top was the best part. I enjoyed sipping the Milo crumbs up to the last gulp.
