How To Make Italian Tomato Mozzarella Salad

It‏’s the 86th day of quarantine period in our region and let’s admit that we’re having a hard time balancing our diet. With nothing to do at home, we tend to eat a lot. While we are obliged to stay at home, we also have a plenty of time to exercise. But I’m too lazy for a workout. And I eat more.

It’s a good thing that I enjoy eating healthy stuff like salads and smoothies. Mom always make tuna salad and Caesar Salad. Recently, I discovered Caprese Salad and added it to our menu. I truly love the combination of tomato and cheese so this Italian Salad is indeed incredible. I just have to disclaim the authenticity of what I’m making since I’m no Italian cook who just steals ingredients in my mother’s cupboard. But I promise this is a must-try.

1. Prepare all the ingredients needed.

  • tomato
  • mozarella
  • basil
  • olive oil
  • salt
  • pepper

2. Make slices out of the tomato. I wish we have those beefsteak tomatoes because it would be the best kind for this salad.

3. Cut the mozzarella cheese into small pieces.

4. Assemble by alternating tomato slices and mozzarella dices into a pan. I wish we had more tomatoes stocked in the kitchen so I can cover the whole pan.

5. Shower with basil. The traditional Caprese Salad calls for a fresh basil so you can also use them instead of dried basil leaves.

6. Drizzle some olive oil.

7. Season with salt and pepper.

8. Toast.

9. Your Caprese Salad is now done and ready to be served.
