Hugot Lines From American Movies

For a number of decades, we have seen a lot of films that were produced and still counting. With that, I wonder how directors, scriptwriters and staff make it possible to originate a story, including the words that come out from the characters’ mouths. Hands down to the creative minds that constructs the script of these movies that are originally made! You have to agree that these words are the ones that speaks to us as we are watching movies, aside from the casts and the story itself.

You also have to agree with me that it’s not only the Philippines who possess hugot lines. In another way and another language, foreign people talks about it also. They just don’t know that it is called hugot here in our country. If your watching English movies, you will realize that what I said was right. And without them knowing it, I identified some of the hugot lines from your favorite English movies.

“It’s not fair? I see the way you look at him. I know, because you used to look at me that way.” – Channing Tatum, The Vow

The Vow

I wanna cry! I wanna cry! I wanna cry! Before watching the movie, I already heard this line and this it makes me cry already. What more if I watch the movie, the impact will multiply by ten. You know what, it was this line who pushed me to watch The Vow.

“Don’t forget – I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.” – Julia Roberts, Notting Hill

Notting Hill

I haven’t watched  Notting Hill yet. Is it because it is a 1999 film? I don’t know but I also don’t why I know this line. Maybe, this Anna Scott’s quote’s fame lead it to my ears and to everyone else’s. Not just that! A lot of girl can relate to it, right? I feel sad now while reading this.

“Waiting for you is like waiting for rain in this drought, hopeless and disappointing” – Hillary Duff, A Cinderella Story

A cinderella story

Last mother’s day, in my friends’ dorm, I catched up this movie somewhere in the channels from the TV and this quote was the one I remembered up to now. I feel the pain from Sam’s heart as she says this to Austin. It’s absolutely a hugot from the deepest.

“When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it’s not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end.” – Kristen Stewart, Twilight

Who wouldn’t forget the New York Times bestseller and at the same time, a box office hit, Twilight Saga? And who wouldn’t forget Bella Swan saying these heartfelt words? Kristen Stewart’s emotion while saying this line made it more genuine.

“A woman can tell when a man looks into her eyes and sees someone else.” – Jamie Anne Brown, The Notebook

The Notebook

There’s one word for me that describes this quote from Martha Shaw – ouch! This is why Nicholas Sparks is my favorite English author for all times. He knows the right words that will tap the viewers’ hearts when it will be translated into a movie.

“Oh yes, I believe in friends. I believe we need them, but if one day you find that you just can’t trust them anymore, then, what then? What then?” – Christopher Eccleston, Shallow Grave

Shallow Grave

This may not be included to romantic love quotes, but I still considered it as a hugot line that you can point to your friends. The movie is so old but I’ve heard it and this quote because it is always included to their list of greatest last film lines.

“We may come from different places, and speak with different tongues, but our hearts beat as one.” – Sir Michael Gambon, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Harry Potter

Oh how I dream to have an instructor like Professor Dumbledore! Aside from Professor McGonagall, he’s my favorite old character from the Harry Potter film series. I could see from their eyes and the words that come out to their mouth like this the love they had to their students, especially Harry Potter.

“Oh yes, the past can hurt. But you can either run from it, or learn from it.” – Robert Guillaume, The Lion King

The Lion King

Lion King is one of those animated film that I want. Aside from the fact that I love animals and my last name is included into its title, it gives lesson and words of wisdom to its young viewers. Ever since I watched the movie when I was younger, this line from Rafiki already inspired me.
