If you’ve been to the famous White Beach, I’m telling you that it’s just a sneak peek of what our province can offer. If the sneak peek is already perfection, what more if you got to travel around the whole province, right? I guess, it’s time for us to discover more about the Philippines’ seventh largest island from its beaches, resorts and caves to its falls, forest parks and hiking spots.

I’m from the town situated in the east of Mindoro, which is Pinamalayan, and I only got to visit the southernmost part of the province last week when we conducted our company’s team building in Tambaron Island. And I’m glad we did or else, we would miss this paradise in our lives.

The northern part houses the Carbon Beach, which is great for snorkeling, while the south tip houses the Marasurong Beach, which is great for kite-boarding and windsurfing. The Dangkalang Malaki and the Dangkalang Maliit are the hubs for island activities. The island is kinda big and its sad that we don’t have time to roam around it. Therefore, we stayed in Dangkalang Maliit for our team building activities.

Keeping the interior of the rooms native, maybe they want to show the reality of living in an island. However, they still need improvement, especially with the ventilation. It’s alright if there is no air conditioner but one electric fan is just not enough for a dormitory room.

Booking online, you would think that the rooms would be the best choices to sleep in. But when we got there, we ended up sleeping in their cottages and cabanas since it’s cooler and more calming in here. Besides, it’s safe to leave your things and food on its tables.

You may not expect a high class accommodation but expect a peaceful relaxation with serene and natural ambiance. I admire the people of Tambaron because they were able to preserve the environment may it be flora, fauna or marine lives.

So far, Tambaron Island has the clearest sea water I’ve ever seen. We don’t need to submerge our heads to see the corals underwater. We could easily spot them by just walking into the sea or by kayaking. Speaking of corals, the beach is rich with these colorful and healthy gems.

The beach has white sand that are fine in some parts and are mixed with pebbles in other parts. The cleanliness of the seashore and the sound of the waves make me want to spread my blanket, lay on it and sunbathe.

The bank is also wide enough for our team building activities. We absolutely enjoyed it especially because the resort isn’t crowded since they only let limited number of groups in. It feels like we rented a private island for ourselves.

Since this place is a slice of wildlife, guests would encounter various species of animals whether domesticated or undomesticated. There are dogs, cats, chickens, goats, birds, fishes, crabs, sea urchins and even snakes! Looking at them brings me freshness, liveliness and vitality.

Moreover, as we listen to the songs of the birds, chirping of the crickets and sounds of other animals, we could hear the rustle of the leaves as the trees sway with the wind. This is one thing I like about Tambaron. In every turn, I could see trees, plants and flowers of different kinds.

At night, it’s quite dark because there’s only a handful of lights here. But that’s actually a good news and better than nothing. In fact, we assumed that there will be no electricity since we are in a separate island. Fortunately, there is electricity as well as good running water.

Lunch and dinner? Visitors don’t have to worry about that because the resort has a restaurant that provides local dishes cooked using firewood. In our case, we just brought our own food and created a boodle fight feast.

An overnight stay gives us an access to use all of their facilities except the videoke. Guests can swim all they want. They can use the raft and boats parked in the shore. They can play and borrow the resort’s basketball and volleyball courts.

However, I decided not to swim because I’m scared of the snakes. Although the staff ensured that they are safe and are not appearing when the sun was up, it was still frightening. I just rode their raft and boat and dipped for a minute or two. It was still satisfying.

They say that the owner of this resort is from Manila. But I was amazed when I knew that the caretakers of the place are Mangyans, the indigenous people of Mindoro. They are very hospitable and friendly. Because of their kindness, we let them join our meals.

Tambaron Island gave me a memory that I will cherish forever. Our group didn’t regret spending our getaway in this beach. I will definitely come back with another set of friends and will visit the other islands of Bulalacao as well.
