Madame Tussauds Sydney: Meet Your Aussie Icons And Stars From Around The Globe!

For our Sydney tour last week, we decided to add SEA LIFE Aquarium Sydney and Sydney Tower Eye on our itinerary since it would be my boyfriend’s first time to visit a public aquarium and it would be an amazing experience to see Sydney Central Business District at a bird’s eye view. As I was booking, I saw that Madame Tussauds Sydney, SEA LIFE Aquarium Sydney and Sydney Tower Eye are managed by the same company and if we were going to two of their attractions, we just have to add ten dollars to visit Madame Tussauds as well. That’s a big discount from its original ticket price of 38.40 AUD so we grabbed the opportunity and included Madame Tussauds Sydney to our itinerary. After all, we wanted to see Hollywood stars even in wax figures.

I’m sure everyone heard about Madame Tussaud already. It’s a popular wax museum that displays figures of important personalities created by the artists and sculptors of the company themselves. It is known for displaying intricate human-sized sculptures that look exactly like the people they’re copying. Having its roots from London, Madame Tussauds has a number of branches all over the world and we’re lucky to visit their place in Sydney.

The museum started, of course, with the woman we may not know through face, but through name. She’s the reason why there are Madame Tussauds museum all over the world. She is the French sculptor, Marie Tussaud, herself. She learned her sculpting skills from waxworker Philippe Curtius. Can you believe that she made her first waxworks from the bodies of executed politicians and dead murderers? That’s creepy! I’m glad we’re seeing celebrities today.

Walking further, I found myself in a room with the rest of historical figures of Australia like Ned Kelly, Banjo Paterson, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, Mary MacKillop, Sir Henry Parkes and Henry Lawson. I’m honestly not familiar with these names as I only got to learn Philippine history during my school years but I’m glad to know these Aussies that shaped their country.

Here’s another room of history but, this time, I’m recognizing familiar faces. I’m lucky to see world leaders like Barack Obama, Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela and science geniuses like Albert Einstein and Victor Chang. How I wish they could talk so I could ask them what are their secrets in life! I want brains like theirs!

Speaking of leaders, your Royal Highness, it’s an honor to meet you all here, too! I’m just sorry if I took the seat of Queen Elizabeth II. I’ll just rest for a while since there’s a lot of public figures to meet here. Anyway, it isn’t a surprise that the country is close to the Queen, King Charles III, Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Kate and Duchess Meghan since Australia is a constitutional monarchy. The King is Australia’s head of state and acts in accordance with the Australian Constitution. I just discovered this fact when I arrived in Sydney. Shame on me!

Of course, Madame Tussauds Sydney is proud to have Steve Irwin, Australia’s quintessential conservationist, animal enthusiast and owner of Australia Zoo. As an animal lover myself, I’m also proud to stand side-by-side with him and his crocodile. He’s an icon! I might not reach his shows before, at least, I’m a subscriber of his son, Robert Irwin, who has followed the footsteps of his father.

We’re now down to sports section. Let’s meet Dylan Alcott, Tim Cahill, Ian Thorpe, Cathy Freeman, Sally Pearson, Don Bradman, Layne Beachley, Greg Inglis, Lleyton Hewitt, Yao Ming, Shane Warne, Sachin Tendulkar and Glenn McGrath. I may not know most of them but I had fun roaming around in this room because it was interactive. They have these spots where guests can pose so it would look like we are playing with these Olympic legends in photos.

Our television, movies and singing idols from the Hollywood are here! I may not see them in person but I’m glad to see their replicas!

They are grouped into different zones, which are styled in different themes such as Party, Sydney Live and TV & Film.

Madame Tussauds Sydney has this spot called Pride, where they celebrate queer icons and allies. Lady Gaga is part of this.

Famous for his quirky offbeat roles such as Captain Jack, Sweeney Todd and Willy Wonka, meet Johnny Depp in the A-List Zone!

Damn! Look at how beautiful Dua Lupa is. You can see her facial features through this amazing sculpture.

I actually posted a selfie of me and Taylor Swift on Facebook and some friends really thought I’m with Taylor Swift!

Harry Styles got the stage. As you can see at the bottom, there’s a pedal where guests can play Harry Styles’ songs and activate smoke effects. The museum definitely made me feel like I was in a concert stage with Harry Styles.

Actually, there are prepared costumes in each stars so guests can equip them and take a photo with the personalities. Look! I’m twinning with Olivia Newton-John right here!

Would you like to join me and Audrey Hepburn for breakfast?

Did you know that Marilyn Monroe is the most kissed statue in the world?

Oh, Leonardo! You’re making me blush. Please don’t stare. It’s just me.

In Madame Tussauds Sydney Fashion zone, budding fashionistas can undergo a digital make-over, try on the latest season trends, strut the catwalk and strike a pose. Megan Gale and Elle MacPherson can guide them on this. But I just had a fan girl moment with Miranda Kerr, my favorite Victoria Secret angel. I almost forgot that she had her beginnings at Australia.

I was immediately transported to the streets of Metropolis and Gotham City and saw the Justice League superheroes. I’m currently having a stare fight with Wonder Woman while this girl is making it harder for Superman to lift the helicopter. Then, I saw the Marvel superherous and ended up at jail with Wolverine. Ugh! It was a tough battle at Madame Tussauds Sydney.

Until now, I’m curious why Margot Robbie isn’t here. She’s 2022’s highest paid actress in Hollywood. She’s known for a lot of iconic characters like Harley Quinn and the latest doll that came to life, Barbie. I was expecting her here mainly because she’s Australian.

But anyway, there is so much more to see. It would make this blog post full if I upload photos of them one by one.

Don’t forget to leave the museum without buying these adorable Madame Tussauds souvenirs. These are unique and specially made by the museum. I personally adored these trophies. It looks as precious as the trophies given at award shows. After the gift shop, proceed to snack kiosk, located near SEA LIFE Aquarium and fuel your tummies. After eating, you can enjoy the rest of Darling Harbour.
