UCC: Every Coffee, Every Moment

UCC Coffee Shop, especially the Clockwork in Burgos Circle and the Cafe Terrace in Burgos Park, is a nostalgic cafe for me and my boyfriend since it is our spot for our cars and coffee date when we were still in college. Every Sunday, super cars line up along Forbes Town and car owners and enthusiasts gather to hang out.

We do not own a luxury car and I’m not interested to cars either. But my boyfriend is fond of them. For him, it’s rewarding to see these dream cars in one location. For me, cars are boring but I always look forward on the coffee part of this gathering so I can’t say no to this kind of Sunday dates. That’s where UCC comes in.

Ueshima Coffee Co., or simply UCC, “is designed to spotlight contemporary Japanese coffee culture and hospitality”. It started as manufacturer of the world’s first canned coffee and other coffee-related products. Now, their coffee shops can be spotted in parts of the globe. I’m lucky to visit some of them and have a taste of Japanese coffee.

purchase Soma COD Kori Kohi

If you’re familiar with Kori Kohi or coffee-flavored iced cubes poured with milk, it’s all thanks to UCC because they popularized this art of drinking coffee, not just in the Philippines, but also in the world. I super love the idea! The outcome of this DIY coffee is on the milkier side but I still found it addictively yummy. We always order this whenever we visit. They also serve the fructose separately so the sweetness depends on the customer.

soma no prescription overnight shipping Ca Phe Sua Da

In their menu, they discuss and feature various coffee creations around the world. I immediately chose one of my favorites, which is Ca Phe Sua Da from Vietnam. We’re surprised to see a little gimmick as they served us a glass with Vietnamese coffee filter still on top. Hence, we were able to watch the poetic way of coffee dripping into the glass. I can’t deny that it was cool. The end result was delish. The ratio of coffee to condensed milk was balanced. I just wish they switch their coffee into less acidic ones.

Sunrise Benedict

UCC just made Eggs Benendict an ultimate breakfast dish by putting corned beef instead of sausage. The corned beef tastes like Delimondo Corned Beef, which is actually a good choice. The yolk is flavorful as if they put flavor inside that poached egg. The hollandaise sauce is nowhere to be seen yet I can taste its tanginess. I guess it’s soaked in the buns. The bread has light crunch. There’s a cream and it surprisingly blended well with the dish.

Threesome Breakfast

Now, it isn’t hard to choose between tapsilog, bacsilog and longsilog because UCC now combined the three types of nostalgic meat dishes. I wonder if they cure their own tocino because it’s flawlessly made as if the pork cuts were commercialized. Its tenderness was commendable. I love the burnt part. The tapa was cut into thin savory strips so it’s definitely fun to eat, especially when dipped into vinegar. I like my tapa this way. They served the longganisa differently and I appreciate it.

Tomato Aligue

The combination of tomato and aligue is new to me. My curiosity led me to having it for lunch. After all, tomato and aligue are both incredible ingredients on their own. The pasta served to me was a simple resemblance of marinara pasta with crab meat on top. That was the surprise, honestly. I appreciate that they pulled some crab meat from its shells for me. It was a good addition. However, I can’t sense any aligue in this plate. It would have been more flavorful if they added more crab fats into the sauce.

Steak Salpicao

Visually, the quantity of beef seemed small for the amount of rice but the flavors of the Salpicao sauce was so intense that one’s palate would totally be looking for more rice. I’m not saying that it’s bad though. In fact, despite of the strong flavors, I’m in awe of the tangy and salty fusion, not to mention the tenderness of the meat. It’s also an upgraded version of our usual Beef Salpicao because they’re using Angus steak for this.

Alkamint | Signature Cocoa Latte

There’s no doubt that the Alkamint is refreshing. However, there’s so many components that I couldn’t recognize each. I’m expecting something cool but the mint is hiding. I was excited to taste the cucumber but it was bland. Basically, it’s water infused with leaves and fruits only. The had the Signature Cocoa Latte, the drink on the left, for take-out and it’s merely a pure chocolate melted in hot milk. That’s simply how it tastes. It didn’t have a distinct UCC flavor. Even the whipped cream on top didn’t help.

Creamy Caffe Latte

While we were stuck in our province during the pandemic, the best I can do to have a taste of UCC is to buy their bottled brews from convenience stores. Although it doesn’t taste the same compared to the ones we buy in their coffee shop since the freshness is no longer present, I still appreciate the intensity of the coffee. In this UCC Creamy Caffe Latte, I can taste everything at once – the roast, the caffeine, the cream and the sweetness. UCC doesn’t really disappoint us even in these kind of products.
