If we still have time left after visiting tourist spots in Bohol, then we would go to Loboc River Cruise. Before our flight to Bohol, I searched for photos and watched vlogs that feature the said floating restaurant. I put it last on our list of destination because it wasn’t attractive in media. Perhaps, I’m quite meticulous, especially when it comes to food.

After visiting the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella, we went our way to the Chocolate Hills in Carmen side. But before passing Bilar Man-made Forest, we saw floating restaurants along Loboc River, which is visible from the highway. We wanted to ride that boat right at that moment! It seems really fun so we literally made a U-turn in front of Zoocolate Thrills and went back to ride the cruise. After all and coincidentally, it was lunch time. Our tummies are screaming for food. But we left not just with our tummies full but also, with our eyes filled with rewarding sceneries.

There are two types of cruises in Loboc – the regular one, which is on first come first serve basis, and the premium one, which has reserved tables for each groups. Both have eat-all-you-can buffet for guests. For the sake of comfort and serenity, we chose the premium one, operated by Village Floating Resto and Cruises.

As I said, I wasn’t hooked to its photos in social media because the cruise looked like a crowded carinderia. But that’s in photos. When I saw it in real life, I ate my words together with the seafood in here. Styled in festival theme, the Village Floating Resto and Cruise managed to be elegant. It is complete facilities like wash area and comfort room.

Buffet in the premium cruise serves more seafood than in the regular cruise. This is one factor why I chose premium. The Coco Crabs were my favorite. They were small but full of crab meat and flavor. The Sisig Stuffed Squid is something new to me and I love the idea. It is soft and chewy at the same time.

There’s also a carving station! I wasn’t able to try the crispy pata but mom said it was tender in the inside and crispy on the outside. I’m not a fan of chicken dishes but I admit that their Chicken Inasal is delish. I truly appreciate the sweet marinade. Their soup, which they call Lao Oi Soup, is rich in vegetable flavor. It’s like our version of Bulanglang.

I love that there’s a wide selection of the best part of the lunch – dessert! Aside from the fresh buko juice sitted in our table, a mini halo halo station located at the edge of the buffet, where guests can choose the sinkers for their halo halo. There’s also a salad bar and assorted fresh fruits for those who prefer greens and fruits respectively.

The view around Loboc River is what I love the most in this ride. Unlike in Manila, the clear water and the refreshing air gave us the relaxation we desire. There are parts where I could see children playing at the riverside which reminds me of a happy childhood of an innocent country girl.

While enjoying the view, we were entertained by the music of a live band. It was amusing and amazing to hear songs of different languages like English, Filipino and Bisaya songs. I must say that the singer is an effective entertainer. He is very energetic that we want jive in every beat.

Halfway, we had a stopover to meet these locals who serenaded us with Boholano songs and performed Filipino folk dances like Tinikling. I could totally feel the warmth of their welcome and I appreciate their efforts to dress up and practice their dances just to entertain us. Plus, it’s so good to see my fellows proudly showcasing the Filipino talent and tradition.

Reaching the Busai Falls signifies the end of the route so it was time for the cruise to go back to the socking port. The Busai Falls is quite hideous from our angle and is shorter than a usual waterfall but I was able to recognize the beauty flowing in lush greenery. I wonder how it feels to have a dip in this pristine nature.

When leaving the terminal, don’t forget to buy shirts, bags, pouches, keychains, fridge magnets and other Bohol souvenirs from the stores inside the compound. I got this shirt at an affordable price. I also bought my employees some cute glow-in-the-dark tarsier shirts and they love to wear them at work. It’s nice to see them in uniform garments.
