Xtreme Sports Philippines: Your One-stop Adrenaline Rush For The Whole Family

It’s the 622nd day of quarantine period in our region and this is also the day when Puerto Galera is finally open to tourists. Although we have easy access and we can go back and forth to the town during the lockdown, the happiness we’re feeling today is different. It is such a joy to see Puerto Galera come back to life again. Beaches are more crowded and establishments reopened.

Last weekend, my girl friends and I decided to stay at Puerto Galera for a night. We opted for a more private resort since we’re still being cautious about the virus. Parts of our itinerary were Dolphinbay Resort staycation, island hopping and yacht riding. But since we are already here and we want to maximize our two-day Puerto Galera tour, we added Xtreme Sports Philippines into our schedule before heading home.

It’s a good thing that the hotel we’re staying has a contact with Xtreme so sudden booking wasn’t a hassle. Arriving at the compound, we were welcomed with a view of lush tropical jungle. Upon seeing this, we already know that a fun adventure awaits.

There are ten sports activities to choose from – Paintball, ATV, Mud Karts, Go Kart Racing, Archery Tag, Crossbow, Airgun, Nerf Arena and Bubble Bump and Archery Target Shooting. Due to our limited time and budget, we were only able to avail five activities. We avoided the shooting-related activities because it seems that our shots will be put to waste because of our lack of skills. But I would like to learn archery next time and this is a great training spot.

Nonetheless, I can now tick off paintball on my bucket list. Thanks to Xtreme! It was amusing throwing paint balls to my friends. However, we were just shooting each other mindlessly because we really don’t know how to play it. It would be better, maybe, if they set mechanics for the game, so it would be more thrilling. But it was fun and I am proud of myself for bravely running across the field without getting shot. I heard it hurts a bit.

Getting inside these balls is a little secret dream of mine so I was excited when I found out that there’s a Bubble Ball in Xtreme. We also didn’t know how to play this but we enjoyed bumping into each other and rolling to the ground like as if we were kids again. I would also like to give my appreciation to our tour guide for assisting and being patient with us even though we give a lot of requests like taking picture one by one and in every corner of the compound. Kudos to you, sir.

My favorite part was getting ourselves splashed with mud while navigating Xtreme’s zigzag mini trail using their Mud Kart. I recommend speeding up the acceleration to get the best experience in this ride. However, it seems that their baggy vehicles and ATVs get damage easily. They only lent us five vehicles because the group before us broke five. After my first loop, the gas pedal eventually didn’t function and the vehicle emitted smoke. So I just took turns with my friend. There’s nothing to worry though because this incident didn’t stop me from having the time of my life.

November 2021 Update: I saw from their Facebook page that they bought new units for their Mud Kart so there’s nothing to worry about anymore.

Xtreme uses the same off-road track for their ATV rides. Actually, there is no difference except for the way they are driven. Both are enjoyable to ride but I prefer the baggy vehicle because the ATV is kinda hard to turn and throttle. After three laps, we’re screaming we want more. I hope they invest for a longer trail for this in the future. It’s okay to have less rounds as long as the trail has more challenges and not just circling in a small terrain.

What seems to be the easiest activity turned out to be the hardest. Well, the Go Kart Racing allowed us to be competitive. However, just like the trail, I hope that they have longer race track because we are getting crowded and this just prevented us from driving fast. The Go Kart Racing includes ten laps in the racing track but I don’t think I get to have all those ten because they’re counting the rounds of whoever comes first so the slow drivers has less loops.

If you’ll ask me, I think it’s better to add more amenities that are not part of the sports activities for it to look more enjoyable and welcoming. On one side, they can provide space for a little food court, where guests can take a break. Perhaps, they can also build up a small souvenir shop so the place can be a one-stop destination. These are just some things I hope to see in the future because I believe that Xtreme Sports Philippines has potential to grow even bigger.

But even though we only tried limited activities today, we truly enjoyed our Xtreme Sports experience. I’ll definitely come back and bring another set of friends. Besides, I still have five more activities to try. If you happen to be at Puerto Galera, make sure to add Xtreme Sports Philippines into your itinerary. After all, Puerto Galera is not just about beaches as there are a lot more spots to discover about this town.
