Honestly, I’m not a fan of ensaymadas. I’m still not a fan until today but I must say that this isn’t bad. This bun may have a dry bread inside but the toppings were delightful. Thanks to the sweet buttercream! I was expecting more of the mongo filling since it would have been the twist of this ensaymada, but it was lacking.

Hopia Roll Mongo

The first thing I noticed was its firmness. The bread isn’t compact so its crumbs were falling. The thickness wasn’t consistent. The wrapper is thin on one side and thick on the other. It’s good that the filling is thicker. Tastewise, it’s yummy. I also got to try their Hopia Dice and it was fun to eat because of its shape.

Butter Toast

I can’t help but compare this to Gardenia’s Butter Toast and Prima Toast since these were the brands of toasted bread I grew up with. Gardenia‘s is toastier and it has more butter and sugar than Marby’s. But Marby’s is thicker, softer and has finer crumbs like Prima’s. I can’t choose which is better because they are all good in their own way. I think if this is more buttery and sugary, then Marby’s Butter Toast will be the best.

Brownies

They have two types of brownies. Their brownies, which are in square form, are gooey, chocolaty, cakey in the middle and crusty on top. They have chopped peanuts but very minimal. On the other hand, they have brownies that look like cupcake. This is crumbly, too, but it is also lacking in peanuts.

Piaya

These piayas are small compared to the usual local piayas. They are only palm-sized! Perhaps, smaller than that. But it redeemed itself through its thickness. It has crunchy outer layer. It has ube filling, which is thankfully recognizable and delicious. It has right sweetness. I just hope it was spread out.

Choco Crinkles

I’m surprised to know that Marby has Choco Crinkles as it is my first time to see the product. I was immediately attracted because of its good packaging. I like that they are bite-sized, which makes them easier to eat. Nevertheless, the cookies are compact as they do not break easily. It isn’t oversatiating since it has the right sweetness. It’s rich in chocolate.

Egglet Cookies

So Marby has this Monde‘s Eggnog-like cookies but the difference is the sugar frosting on top, which adds crunch and sweetness. I love it! The flavor is almost the same but this one is firm and bigger. It doesn’t easily break. When I’m eating Monde’s Eggnog, I used to melt the cookie on my tongue. I can’t do that here.

Egg Pie

The Egg Pie is kinda weird because of the bread-like texture of the filling. Maybe, they did it that way to preserve the pie longer. It’s just fine though. It’s just weird. The crust is also thick. Marby also offer a bigger version of this called Egg Pie Supremo. They look almost the same so I assume that they also taste the same.

Pinoy Tasty

I remember when I was in college, during my condo life, I frequently chose Marby Pinoy Tasty when buying a loaf of bread, together with Lucky Me Pancit Canton and eggs, since it was the cheapest on its section. It may be the most affordable loaf, still it doesn’t come last when it comes to taste as it is soft and creamy.

Arguillanas de Otap

One thing I hate about Otap cookies is the fact that these puff pastry easilt breaks. But with Marby’s Arguillanas de Otap’s good packaging and proper seal, it didn’t happen even after a long transport. The cookies are cute-sized. When it comes to taste, I think it lacks flavor becaus it only has a small amount of sugar.
