How To Make Iced Eggnog Milk

It’s Christmas time! It’s only September but for Filipinos, it’s the start of the holiday season. We usually celebrate Christmas for five months starting September until January. That’s how excited and ecstatic we are! But today, I would like to start the Filipino Christmas through a western-style one. I’ve asked my foreign friends and even googled to learn more about this popular Christmas drink called Eggnog.

They say that Eggnog become a Christmas tradition for most Americans because of their history. But aside from that, I believe that Eggnog is comforting drink during the cold season. Flavored with egg and nutmeg, Eggnog is not hard to love by everybody.

1. Prepare all the ingredients needed.

    • 1 1/4 cup milk
    • 5 tbsp sugar
    • 2 egg yolks
    • 2/3 cup cream
    • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
    • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

2. Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. I’ve done so many techniques and failed only to find out that the easiest way to separate the yolks from the whites is just by picking them through hand.

3. Combine the milk, cream, nutmeg and cinnamon in a pot and let this simmer.

4. While cooking the milk, whip the egg yolks and sugar together.

5. Add the egg mixture into the pot of milk.

6. Continue cooking the Eggnog on low heat for fifteen minutes while stirring continuously.

7. After cooking, strain to remove unwanted solid particles.

8. Flavor with vanilla.

9. Let this cool to room temperature.

10. Transfer into a milk bottle and chill overnight.

11. Pour over ice.

12. Your Iced Eggnog is now done and ready to be served.
