Sizzlin’ Steak: We Like It Well Done

Sizzling and steak – these are two words that make me drool even upon hearing only. 

Most of us are familiar with sizzling steak already since this food concept isn’t new in Philippine street food scene. Some restaurants offer sizzling steaks with unli-rice, unli-gravy or even unli-meat for an affordable price. But of course, the steaks offered there are for people who lives on a budget. The steaks offered there don’t follow the quality and doneness desired by customers. 

On the other hand, the meat here are not as expensive as Wolfgang’s. Let’s just say that when it comes to grade and value Sizzlin’ Steak is in between so it’s something that we choose to afford.

Whenever we visit Sizzlin’ Steak, my boyfriend wouldn’t even touch the menu because we both know his order already. It’s Beef Belly Rice all the way! This sizzling dish is simply heavenly. It displays the combination of flavors of beef meat and belly so the lusciousness is guaranteed. The meat has natural beef flavor so it’s good even without sauce. But the sauce gives tanginess which is a plus factor. Since it is in a sizzling plate, it remained hot during the entire dinner time.

When I’m at a branch, I think I’ve almost eaten all the dishes in Sizzlin’ Steak because some branches offer a very limited selections. I’m kinda disappointed that I didn’t get to see the pasta, premium steaks and desserts in Shell Mamplasan, the branch where I always eat. So as my last choice, I picked the Cheesy Beef Rice, another variety of Beef Belly Rice. Of course, the difference is the addition of cheese. It was too mild that I only got the milky flavor notes of cheese. The bell pepper blended well. The meat may not be as toasted as the original, but the richness of beef was present.

Sizzlin’ Steak truly knows what my taste buds wanted! Through their Beef Tapa, they presented thin and crispy cuts of savory meat. They even use steak sauce so the quality of the dish was undeniably upgraded. Just don’t put too much sauce for it may get too salty. I chose beans and carrots as sides to complete the protein, carbs and meat meal. Its portion was small but the grilled veggies were fresh and crunchy.

Australian Marbled

I has butter and lemon on top so expect the flavors to be extra buttery and tangy. The steak is chewy and is kinda hard to slice but for a medium rare it’s alright. Aside from grilled, it is also charred brought by the sizzling plate so I can taste the barbecue flavors. Although the texture is quite rough for a medium rare doneness, I can sense the delicious rareness. The sauce doesn’t have that intensity but I’m glad for the free refill.

Tuna Belly

The Tuna Belly, just like the steak’s doneness, is neither undercooked nor overcooked. The fish was cooked perfectly despite of the tuna’s thickness. I love that they retained the sea flavors of the tuna so it’s salty, juicy and yummy. The sauce isn’t even necessary because we’re already satisfied with the natural flavors of the tuna, which Sizzlin’ Steak was able to expose successfully. But if I were to judge the sauce smothered on top, it’s still delectable. I like the tanginess.

Chicken Steak

I’m not sure of the word but I describe the meat as clean. They chose the breast part so it’s white and partly healthy. I’m glad that they didn’t remove the chicken skin because I’m loving the little cholesterol. The meat is big, too. It’s almost palm-sized. The tenderness reminds me of a Japanese chicken teriyaki. They’re almost the same except for the sauce. This one has light bitterness and was charred a little. The gravy is bland but I still find it fitting and delish.

Burger Steak

Oooh! Look at those charred areas. From that alone, I already knew I ordered the right thing. I could sense pureness of beef. Beef is finely ground and firmly packed so a piece of patty is filling already. I just think that both the patty and the veggies are too salty for my liking while the gravy remains good and mild. It’s already delish in a takeout bowl. What more if I’m dining in their restaurant and this burger steak is on sizzling plate?

Sizzling S’mores

It’s amazing that even in their dessert section, they still have something that sizzles. I just thought the serving was big and could serve the me and my boyfriend. But the amount can only fulfill my tummy. I’m still happy that they offer this. It’s surprising that even though this dish is a combination of sweets, the Sizzling S’mores isn’t too sweet. However, the chocolate part is lacking in flavor, maybe, because it was already toasted instead of gooey.
