W Macau Through The Golden Cinematic Lens

http___www.bigleaguekickball.com_about_ Soma free consultation For our four-day stay in Macau, we decided to rent a room at a cheap two-star hotel on our first three nights so it wouldn’t consume too much budget on accommodation. But since we still want to experience the extravagance of staying in one of the hotels in Cotai strip, we alotted a night at W Macau, one of the integrated resort in Studio City, for our last day. After all, we were celebrating mom’s birthday on our last day in Macau and she deserved a grand staycation.

Actually, when I was still searching for accommodation, any hotels in Cotai Strip will do but I ended up booking W Macau since it offers the most affordable price. At this reasonable price, I can’t believe that we were able to stay at a first-rate Marriott hotel inside a Hollywood studio-themed leisure resort.

As a glamorous entertainment resort, Studio City  Macau is the first in Asia to integrate television and film production facilities, retail, gaming and hotels. It is one of the leading resorts in Cotai Strip alongside The Venetian, The Parisian, The Londoner and Grand Lisboa. The resort’s two hotel towers are connected by the Golden Reel, the world’s first and highest figure-8 ferris wheel.

Adorned with dim lights and dark hues, the hotel room of W Macau truly exemplifies art deco interior design. It has this casino feels in it. The marvelous suite is huge and equipped with up-to-date appliances, including a built-in sound system. There was no office table but there were a lot to find at its mini kitchen. The beddings were soft and comfy. I just wish we can adjust the swing of the air conditioner because its blow was fixated on the bed where I slept.

The restroom is so spacious that I can dance inside. But, of course, I spent most of my time here dipping in the hot tub while using the complimentary bath salt and loofah pad. I like that the shower area and toilet are separated into cubicles. I also appreciate the hotel’s initiative to be resourceful as it provides environment-friendly toiletries. The soap and shampoo even smell like vegetables.

It is my first time to be asked which room I like to stay. The choices are a smoking room at a higher floor with a view or a non-smoking room at a lower floor without view. I like to have the view but for our health concerns, I sacrificed the it and went to the non-smoking room. We got a unit facing inner part of the Studio City compound. We could see its buildings lighting up at night. We also noticed that an extension of Studio City’s water park is under construction.

W Macau has four restaurants and bars, apart from the food establishments of Studio City. These are Living Room, Hawker Hawker, Diva and Blind Tiger. I visited the Living Room and it looked luxurious and comfortable. It didn’t appear like a typical restaurant. Instead, with sofas, pillows and carpets, it follows the interior of a living room of house. I unintentionally picked a booking without breakfast so we just ordered the hotel’s Continental Breakfast in the morning. We didn’t eat here though.

We availed their in-room dining service and had our food delivered to our unit. I’m surprised that salt, pepper and even a solo dining table are provided. However, I must say that this is the most expensive Continental Breakfast I had in my life yet, with just three types of typical breads, it was the simplest. During dinner, I had their Beef Satay. It is delicious but it didn’t taste authentic. The beef is covered with coconut. The sauce only has minimal peanut taste. I like how tender the beef was though. It seemed half cooked.

One of my concerns during our stay was the long waiting time before we could get to our room. But it was kinda understandable because there were really a lot of guests on the day of our visit, causing a long queue. The welcome ambassador mentioned that they had around 500 guests that day. With this number of visitors, it made the exquisite lobby small and crowded.

Despite of the long wait, I’m thankful that W Macau has accommodating welcome ambassadors that made sure we’re still good. Most of them are Filipinos. I must say that they hired the right employees because Filipinos are top-notch when it comes to hospitality and diligence. Here, we met Yvan, a welcome ambassador of W Macau. He assisted us to our room, talked to us about the amenities of their hotel and of Studio City, kept our luggages after check-out and walked us through their free shuttle to our airport.

W Macau amenities include FIT, the hotel’s fitness gym, WET, the hotel’s indoor heated pool, and AWAY, the hotel’s spa. Guests can unwind and enjoy some relaxing moments together at these state-of-the-art leisure spaces. Most modern hotels usually focus on the aesthetic of their swimming pools but when it comes to W Macau, I noticed that they retained the traditional rectangular pool and made it simple, perhaps, because there’s already a water park in Studio City’s vicinity.

Apart from the hotel’s offerings, guests can also enjoy the facilities of Studio City. I already mentioned the water park, which has seven exhilarating water slides and two wave pools. As I mentioned earlier, Studio City is also known for the first and only figure-8 ferris wheel in the world so we didn’t miss riding the Golden Reel. Moreover, Studio City won’t be located in the Las Vegas of the East if it doesn’t have casino.
